Detailed description

For those starting with horses we’ll cover lessons such as:

Safety around a horse: what to look for to gauge a horse’s mood, how to carry yourself around a horse and your body language. Then move onto approaching and haltering in the paddock, grooming, tying up and knots, leading the horse and asking the horse to move in circles around you. We will develop our understanding and communication to better respond to bad attitude in a horse.

For those more experienced with horses we concentrate on ground work, training the horse in the riding ring with both connected and free lunging, join up, lateral flexion and backing up and desensitizing a horse.

We can also talk through horse ownership and give advice to novice buyers – what to look for when buying a horse, breeds/temperament/fitness and health.

Our weight limit for riders is 90kg and trail riding requires an intermediate level of competency.
