Wellness with horses

Wellness with horses

Develop your inner calm, strength and communication with horses and Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) over a few days at the Keppler Farm.
Horse therapy is widely used for personal development and Shinrin-yoku gives a deep relaxation and escape from city life.
Spending a few days with the horses allows you to take the time to breathe, reflect and gain perspective that can have long term benefits.
It’s the immediacy and truth of our interaction with horses that makes equine therapy a powerful tool.
We’ll agree the pace and direction of your interaction with horses throughout your stay in order to develop your relaxation, strength and communication.
We have a maximum of three guests at a time and lessons are in English.

Detailed description

We start each session with breathing and relaxation exercises with the horses close by. Our relationship and learning starts as soon as we’re with them as they learn from our posture and body language. We learn how to approach the horse; how pushing forward often makes another retreat. Standing next to the horse and through the use of physical touch we’re focused on stillness and being present, removing tension and stress. Putting a halter and lead rope and asking them to walk with us develops personal strength, the horse is communicating in real time whether they feel strength and leadership and this will be developed at your pace. Trust is a process, leading a horse over obstacles further develops the bond between human and horse.

Shinrin-yoku or Forest Bathing is offered either in the early morning or evening. With your guide you will walk through the forest, taking your time to listen to birds singing and the wind through the trees, watch the clouds float past the treetops, appreciate the seasons, the wild cherry blossom in spring or the tall meadow grass swaying in summer. Feel the bark of the pine, pick a wild strawberry in June or a wild edible mushroom in early autumn. We can stop at points with beautiful views or gurgling streams, an area with a chair and a fire to appreciate the sound and colour of the flames.

We develop our sense of being present and enjoyment of nature and the now.
